Assembly Instructions

Unpack all parts from the box. Assembly requires basic tools (included).

  1. Attach the handle: Align lower handle sections with deck brackets, secure with bolts and wing nuts.
  2. Install the upper handle: Connect to lower handle using provided bolts and knobs.
  3. Attach the grass bag: Hang bag frame on rear deck hooks; attach fabric bag to frame.
  4. Install the side discharge chute (if not pre-installed): Snap into place on deck opening.
  5. Add engine oil and gasoline: Use SAE 30 oil (approx. 20 oz) and unleaded gasoline.

WARNING! Do not attempt to start the engine before adding oil and fuel. Ensure all bolts are tightened securely.

First-Time Setup

Before first use, complete final checks and adjustments.

  1. Check oil level: Ensure oil is at the full mark on the dipstick.
  2. Add fuel: Fill tank with fresh unleaded gasoline (max 0.95 qt).
  3. Adjust cutting height: Set lever to desired position (middle setting recommended for first mow).
  4. Select cutting mode: Install mulch plug for mulching, bag for collection, or attach side discharge chute.
  5. Start engine: Pull recoil starter cord firmly.

Handle Controls: Engine control lever (must be held to run), recoil starter grip, height adjustment lever.

Starting Procedure:

  1. Check oil and fuel levels.
  2. Move engine control lever to RUN position.
  3. Prime engine (if equipped) by pressing primer bulb 3 times.
  4. Pull recoil starter cord briskly.

Stopping: Release engine control lever. Engine will stop. For emergency stop, release lever immediately.

Height Adjustment: Move single lever to one of 6 positions. Ensure all wheels are at same height.

Cutting System Setup

3-in-1 System allows mulching, bagging, or side discharge.

  1. Mulching: Install mulch plug into rear discharge opening. Grass clippings are cut finely and returned to lawn.
  2. Bagging: Remove mulch plug, attach grass bag assembly to rear hooks.
  3. Side Discharge: Remove mulch plug and bag, attach side discharge chute to deck opening.

Tip: For best mulching results, mow when grass is dry and do not cut more than 1/3 of grass height at once.
