Operation

Follow these steps for safe and effective mowing.

  1. Pre-Start Check: Check oil and fuel levels. Clear the lawn of debris. Ensure the bagger or mulch plug is properly installed.
  2. Starting the Engine:
    • Push the primer bulb 3 times (if engine is cold).
    • Set the engine speed control to FAST.
    • Hold the engine control lever against the handle.
    • Pull the recoil starter handle briskly.
  3. Mowing: Walk at a steady pace, allowing the engine to operate at full speed. Overlap each pass slightly for an even cut.
  4. Stopping: Release the engine control lever to stop the blade. Move the engine speed control to STOP to shut off the engine.

Tip: Mow when grass is dry for best results and to prevent clumping.

Cutting Height Adjustment

Adjust the cutting height to suit your lawn conditions.

  1. Stop the engine and wait for the blade to stop completely.
  2. Locate the height adjustment lever next to each wheel.
  3. Lift the lever to move the wheel up or down.
  4. Set the lever into one of the six notches on the adjustment bracket (1.5" being the lowest, 3.75" the highest).
  5. Adjust all four wheels to the same setting for an even cut.

CAUTION! Never adjust the cutting height while the engine is running.
