Assembly Instructions

Unpack and inspect all parts. Assemble on a flat, clear surface.

  1. Attach handle: Insert lower handle into deck brackets, secure with provided bolts and wing nuts.
  2. Install grass bag: Hook bag frame onto rear deck mounts; ensure bag is fully seated.
  3. Attach discharge chute: Slide chute into side discharge opening; secure with retention knob.
  4. Install mulching plug (if mulching): Insert plug into discharge opening.
  5. Add engine oil: Use SAE 30 detergent oil (approx. 20 oz). Check dipstick.
  6. Add gasoline: Use fresh unleaded gasoline (max 87 octane). Do not overfill.

WARNING! Wear gloves during assembly. Ensure all fasteners are tight before operation.

Safety Information

Read all instructions before operating. Keep bystanders and pets away.

  1. Clear mowing area of stones, toys, and other objects that could be thrown.
  2. Always wear sturdy footwear and eye protection.
  3. Do not mow wet grass or in the rain.

Handle Controls: Engine control lever (combines throttle and stop), height adjustment lever, bag handle.

Starting Procedure:

  1. Check oil and fuel levels.
  2. Push primer bulb 3 times (cold engine).
  3. Set throttle control to FAST position.
  4. Pull recoil starter handle firmly.

Stopping: Release engine control lever to STOP position.

Operating Tips: Mow at a steady walking pace. Overlap each pass by a few inches for even cut. Avoid mowing in reverse unless necessary.

Cutting Height Adjustment

Single-lever adjustment changes height for all four wheels simultaneously.

  1. Stop engine and wait for blade to stop.
  2. Pull height adjustment lever toward wheel.
  3. Move lever to desired notch (1-6, where 1 is lowest).
  4. Release lever to lock into position.

Recommended Settings: 2.5"-3" for normal lawns; 3.75" for first cut of season or during drought.

3-in-1 Function Setup

Configure for mulching, bagging, or side discharge.

  1. Mulching: Install mulching plug in discharge opening. Ensure bag is NOT attached. Grass is cut finely and returned to lawn.
  2. Bagging: Remove mulching plug. Attach grass bag to rear mounts. Clippings are collected.
  3. Side Discharge: Remove mulching plug and bag. Install discharge chute. Clippings are ejected to the side.

Tip: Empty bag frequently (when ½ full) to maintain airflow and cutting performance.

  1. Run engine to warm oil, then drain oil (while warm). Refill with fresh oil.
  2. Add fuel stabilizer to gas tank, run engine for 5 minutes to circulate.
  3. Or, drain fuel tank and carburetor completely.
  4. Clean underside of deck thoroughly.
  5. Remove spark plug, add 1 tablespoon of oil to cylinder, pull starter slowly to coat, reinstall plug.
  6. Store in a clean, dry place, covered.

CAUTION! Gasoline left in system over 30 days can cause starting problems and damage.

Warranty Information

Murray mowers are backed by a limited warranty. The 190cc Briggs & Stratton engine is covered by a separate manufacturer's warranty.

Warranty does not cover damage from neglect, improper use, commercial use, or normal wear items (blades, belts, etc.).
