Safety Instructions

Read all instructions before operating. Key safety components: Engine stop lever, blade control handle, discharge chute, safety labels.

Assembly & Setup

Unpack and inspect all parts. Assembly requires basic tools (included: wrench, screwdriver).

  1. Handle Assembly: Attach upper and lower handle sections with provided bolts and knobs.
  2. Wheels: Slide wheels onto axles; secure with retainer clips.
  3. Discharge Chute/Bag: Attach discharge chute or mulch plug as desired. Connect grass bag to rear brackets.
  4. Oil & Fuel: Add SAE 30 motor oil to engine (check dipstick). Fill fuel tank with fresh unleaded gasoline.

WARNING! Do not start engine until assembly is complete and all parts are securely fastened.

Operation

Starting, mowing, and stopping procedures.

  1. Pre-Start Check: Ensure area is clear. Check oil and fuel levels.
  2. Starting Engine: Set throttle to FAST. Prime engine (if equipped). Pull recoil starter firmly.
  3. Engaging Blade: Hold blade control handle against handlebar.
  4. Self-Propelled Drive: Squeeze drive control lever to move forward.
  5. Stopping: Release blade control handle. Move throttle to STOP. Wait for blade to stop completely.

Tip: For best cut, mow when grass is dry. Overlap each pass by a few inches.

Cutting Height Adjustment

Adjust all wheels at once with single lever.

  1. Stop mower on level surface with engine off.
  2. Pull height adjustment lever outward and move to desired position (1-6).
  3. Release lever to lock into place.
  4. Recommended heights: 2.5"-3" for normal lawns, higher for rough terrain.

CAUTION! Never adjust height while engine is running.

Engine Care

Blade Care & Sharpening

Sharp blade ensures clean cut and healthy grass.

  1. Disconnect spark plug wire.
  2. Tip mower on side (air filter up). Block blade with wood wedge.
  3. Remove blade bolt (clockwise threads).
  4. 4. Sharpen blade evenly with file or grinder. Maintain original angle. Balance blade (use balancer).
  5. Reinstall blade with cutting edge toward ground. Torque bolt to 450-600 in-lbs.

Replace blade if cracked, bent, or excessively worn.

Storage

End-of-season preparation.

  1. Clean mower thoroughly, especially underside.
  2. Fuel Option A (Short-term): Add fuel stabilizer, run engine 5 minutes.
  3. Fuel Option B (Long-term): Drain fuel tank and carburetor completely.
  4. Change oil and replace air filter.
  5. Remove spark plug, add 1 oz oil to cylinder, pull starter slowly, reinstall plug.
  6. Store in dry, covered location.
