Assembly Instructions

Unpack all parts and inspect for damage. Assembly requires basic tools (included).

  1. Attach Handle: Align lower handle with deck brackets, secure with provided bolts and wing nuts.
  2. Install Upper Handle: Connect upper handle to lower handle, tighten knobs.
  3. Attach Bag: Hang grass bag onto rear bagger brackets; ensure it clicks into place.
  4. Install Mulching Plug (if desired): Insert plug into rear discharge chute.
  5. Add Oil & Fuel: Add SAE 30 motor oil to engine (check dipstick). Add fresh unleaded gasoline (87 octane minimum).

WARNING! Do not add fuel or oil indoors or near ignition sources. Ensure mower is on level surface during assembly.

First-Time Setup

Before first use, complete final checks and adjustments.

  1. Check Oil Level: Ensure oil is at full mark on dipstick.
  2. Check Tire Pressure: Inflate all tires to 20 PSI.
  3. Adjust Cutting Height: Set lever to desired height (middle position recommended for first mow).
  4. Test Controls: Squeeze drive control bar to ensure wheels engage; release to disengage.
  5. Start Engine: Follow starting procedure in Controls section.

CAUTION! Never operate mower without proper oil level. Clear mowing area of debris before starting.

Primary controls: Drive control bar, height adjustment lever, engine controls.

Starting Procedure:

  1. Ensure spark plug wire is connected.
  2. Move throttle control to FAST position.
  3. Prime engine (if equipped) by pressing primer bulb 3 times.
  4. Pull recoil starter handle briskly.

Stopping: Release drive control bar, move throttle to STOP, disconnect spark plug wire for safety.

Height Adjustment: Single lever adjusts all four wheels simultaneously. Select position for grass condition.

Cutting & Discharge Options

Configure mower for mulching, bagging, or side discharge.

  1. Mulching: Install mulching plug in rear discharge chute. Grass is cut finely and returned to lawn as fertilizer.
  2. Bagging: Attach grass bag to rear brackets. Collect clippings for disposal.
  3. Side Discharge: Remove mulching plug and bag. Clippings discharge from side chute (use with optional side discharge deflector).

Tip: For best mulching results, mow when grass is dry and don't cut more than 1/3 of grass height at once.

  4. Remove spark plug, add 1 tablespoon of oil to cylinder, pull starter slowly to distribute, reinstall plug.
  5. Store in dry, covered area.

CAUTION! Never store mower with fuel in tank indoors or in enclosed spaces without proper ventilation.
